October 2011:

With the National Enterprise Awards coming up in November, our sister site LiveTrad.com has been nominated as the Sligo Enterprise Board candidate for the county. Good luck to all involved.

Live GAA action abounds this month, and Micheál is involved in the production and preparation of sports broadcasts for Nemeton. This includes the International Rules Series between Ireland and Australia, as well as the Shinty series between Ireland and Scotland, and a number of GAA matches, all live on TG4.

We’ve also wrapped the final programmes in the ‘Ceist GAA’ series for Sónta and TG4. These programmes are broadcast at 8:30pm every Wednesday between now and the end of the year on TG4. Micheál features as one of the team captains in this weekly series.

Comhdháil Náisiúnta na Gaeilge recently had a workshop for the promotion of the Irish language as a working language, at which over 300 students and teachers participated, and Micheál was one of the guest speakers. An excellent discussion followed, hopefully it will help inform people of the very real educational & business opportunities offered to those who want to conduct their businesses through the medium of Irish.

Omedia also produced a feature on the Sligo Cathedral Choir, which was televised on the RTE Nationwide programme on Friday October 14th. Here’s the link to the programme.

Micheál was invited to moderate a panel discussion on issues regarding alcohol and substance abuse issues within the GAA, which took place in front of an invited auddience at the Sligo Park Hotel on September 5th last. The panel featured intercounty footballers Oisín McConville and Éamon O'Hara, sports psychologist Caroline Currid, nutritionist Richelle Flanaghan, Jackie Curry from the Family Support Network and Colin Regan of Croke Park's Alcohol & Substance Abuse Prevention Programme (ASAP). The evening was organized by Charlie Harrison and the Sligo GAA County Board, and was the very first gathering of it's kind in the country, addressing key issues and challenges effecting young sports people today. The discussion was revealing, as the guests drew on their own experiences, and the 400 or so guests in attendance were also involved through a Q&A session - an excellent concept, and the best of luck to Charlie and his team when they review and develop the forum further.

The new GAA Beo season is almost upon us, and as usual, Micheál will be involved with Nemeton and TG4, bringing quality GAA matches to viewers from all corners of the country.

The recent corporate video which was produced for the Bus Éireann website will now be rolled out on screens at the Busaras Headquarters in Dublin. So if you’re waiting for your bus, have a look at the screens and keep an eye out for some beautiful scenery along the western seaboard!

The production of the 'Ceist GAA' programme, produced by Sónta has almost wrapped up, the final 3 programmes are due to be recorded in October. Micheál has been involved as one of two team captains during the 15 part series, and, along with RTÉ's Evanne Ní Chuilinn, has been trying to put manners of the show's host Hector Ó hEochagáin. The first show will be broadcast on TG4 on September 14th, and will run throughout the Autumn.

We've recently produced and delivered a promotional film on behalf of Wisdom Services in Sligo. Click on the relevant link for a look. This film formed the centrepiece of a great day of celebration at Wisdom Services Cregg House recently, where the annual report was launched before an audience of several hundred. This film was delivered on both DVD and web platforms, and is to be a key way for the Services to promote themselves to the general public.

Recent features produced for RTÉ's 'Nationwide' programme include three features on Inish Turk Beg, Made In Sligo, and IT Sligo. Click on the relevant link to access the video archive for each clip. At Omedia we are broadening the services offered to include much more web-based output and to tailor corporate productions to suit exact client requirements. To this end, we are offering to provide a free consultation service to all clients who contact us. This provides clients with an open-ended option on proceeding with a project. We feel that, while promotion is more important for all businesses than ever now, reality dictates that advertising and promotional budgets have fallen. Omedia's way of meeting this challenge is to provide this initial consultation free of charge, to include services which were previously subject to production costs. We'll come and meet you, have a look at your proposal, help you develop it to the point where it's ready for video, and then cost it fully for you. If, at that stage, you remain undecided, you can consider your options further, without being subject to any consultation fee.
Email info@omedia.ie to arrange a consultation or simply call 071-9173338 if you want a hand to progress your idea further.

This year , we've focussed on diversifying our services and the hard work which has been done in the past 18 months in developing our live webstreaming and corporate services has meant that, while our broadcast output has fallen slightly, this has been more than compensated for in other markets. This gives us room for optimism through 2011. As companies face the reality that, without promotion they face a very uncertain future, we are well placed to provide vibrant, cost effective promotional solutions to companies looking to navigate their way through current challenges.

In relation to broadcast output, we've signed up for another year with RTÉ's Nationwide programme, as well as committing to a web project with The Arts Council. Nationwide screened two features in March which were produced by Omedia, and we've also been working continuously with Nemeton on TG4's sports output.

Over on our sister site www.LiveTrad.com we've increased the amount of live webcasts, and have several new ones planned for the next couple of months. See the LiveTrad.com site for lots of details about current and upcoming webcasts. The technology behind this site is adaptable to many forms of web broadcasting, so if you've got an event which requires live webstreaming, come and talk to us first.

We've just delivered an introductory webvideo for Simplify Learning, an online study platform which is going to be launched soon. This new website will enable users to share notes and help each other through lots of other supports, and it's free to use. As soon as the video goes live, we'll provide the link.

Omedia have also produced a corporate web video for Bus Éireann, the national bus service, to promote Route 64, which runs from Galway to Derry. This web video shows all of the places and things to see and do along the route, and provides information on ticket purchases, online facilities, and other key messages. According to Bus Éireann's marketing department, the company was "delighted with the excellent production and technical standards of the work completed," and the video is now online on www.buseireann.ie.

Word has just come back in relation to the Safety Video we produced earlier this year for GPO Abbott Ireland as part of their submission for a worldwide safety award. They received 2nd place in the worldwide competition and were presented with their award in Chicago. Congratulations to all involved!

We've also delivered a promotional web video for the World Fireball Championships, hosted in Ireland in 2011. This video was commissioned by Fáilte Ireland and acts as a promotional vehicle to draw tourists and competitors to the 2011 event, which will be hosted by Sligo Yacht Club in Rosses Point. The web video was launched at the 2010 World Championships, taking place in Barbados, and will be available to view on www.fireball-international.com after the launch.

Don’t forget, if there’s anything you want to ask us in the line of queries regarding promotional video, equipment or any other matter related to new technologies like streaming, drop us a line on info@omedia.ie and we’ll do our best to answer your questions. We can stream events of many types, from all kinds of locations, over the internet. So instead of having to bring your clients to you, it's now possible to deliver your message to their PC, on the internet. Single or multi camera, with added elements like graphics, video play-ins, they can even ask questions online which you can answer, it's completely interactive, and in the vast majority of cases, very straightforward and cost effective.
